In the relatively expeditious development of international factual programming in the region, David could be considered a pioneer. In 2001, he became one of the first producers in Asia fully commissioned by an international broadcaster to make an original series from the region. His work on Discovery's "Afterlife" in 2003 was another well received series taking a fascinating look at burial rites and rituals around Asia.

After a short stint as a security and foreign affairs researcher at a policy think tank in Kuala Lumpur, David joined Malaysian satellite pay-tv operator Astro in its start-up phase from 1995 – 1998. Following a range of formative roles in broadcasting, including business & current affairs journalism, he moved on to producing for some of the region's leading advertising film directors making music videos and commercials. From 2000, he has consistently concentrated on documentary and factual entertainment programmes.

David has been actively speerheading industry development projects designed to push the region's documentary filmmakers onto international broadcast platforms. Working with government film bodies and networks, he has supervised and story-edited series such as Discovery Asia's China 21 and Eye on Malaysia, which resulted in “first-time filmmakers” from emerging content industries sweeping multiple nominations and awards at every regional TV awards their "grass-root" films participate in.

As a series producer and director, David always delivers insightful stories driven with strong production values. From documentary to travel and lifestyle, every production he undertakes is rich with substantive material and engaging style.
